Thursday, April 7 2022 | 8pm Friday, April 8 2022 | 8pm Saturday, April 9 2022 | 8pm Sunday, April 10 2022 | 2:30pm New Dance Theatre, Dance Building UGA Dance MERGENCE, the 2022 UGA Dance Company Spring Faculty Concert, will be presented by the University of Georgia Department of Dance on April 7-9 at 8 p.m. and April 10 at 2:30 p.m. in the New Dance Theatre, located in the Dance Building between Soule and Green Streets (off Sanford Drive). The performance features original works created by dance faculty and guest artists for UGA dance students. MERGENCE offers its audience an array of dance styles and choreographic ideas. With eleven different works, this energetic live performance features Classical ballet, contemporary, and jazz dance, as well as live music. The diversity of the concert embraces a range of artistic voices celebrating the emerging student artist as a sophisticated performer who has range and depth. Faculty and guest choreography, and music will be performed by UGA Dance Department students, staff, dance faculty, and guests. We are delighted to present this year’s guest choreography by Virginia Carver, UGA Department of Dance professor emerita and Seyong Kim, international professional ballet artist and 2021-22 Franklin Visiting Scholar and Willson Center for Humanities and Arts Distinguished Artist. Tickets will also be available at the door one hour before each performance, however, advance purchase is strongly recommended.
